Accessories by jewellery designer Roz Fenson are now in Elizabeth and Edward St stores. Colorful and textured pieces characterise these handcrafted leather accessories. Experimenting and using a medieval process called CUIR BOUILLE Roz has managed to rcreate flexibility and translucency with the leather which combined with bold and large shapes brakes away from traditional leather production, resulting in quite unique pieces.

David Collins is the eye behind the camera of our dogstar and Laika spring 2010 photo-shoot. Here we uncover a bit more about this talented photographer and his dynamic style.

How did you get started in photography?
Photography has always been a passion, but I started working professionally in 2002. My first break was shooting a cover for Style Magazine. It was a fashion shoot down the Gold Coast at the Q1 building. With a lot of preparation and a bit of luck the final outcome worked very well and spawned several other opportunities.
What do you enjoy shooting the most?
As a commercial photographer I get to work with a lot of people on a variety of projects, but I always look forward to the fashion shoots the most. Fashion gives me the chance to collaborate with some wonderful artists and freedom to explore my own style.
What are the key factors that make your photographs special?
Through the years I have developed my own style, hopefully an identifiable look that viewers will recognize. My process involves prioritising colour and shapes. In the early days I found myself attracted to the drama of high contract, low key images. Now as I get older I have found that you can pull more nuances from clever lighting and perfect timing.
What kind of projects are the ones you look forward to?
Occasionally I get a brief for a concept that needs something special. Doing new things, incorporating or developing new techniques really excites me. I look forward to anything that gives me a sense of moving forward.
What gives you the most satisfaction as a photographer?
Seeing a smile on my clients face when I hand them the proof sheets.

Hi I’m Orla,
I’ve been working with dogstar for close to 6 years, during which time I’ve been involved in almost every aspect of the company. I started doing Alterations in our studio at Tenneriffe while studying fashion at TAFE, I’ve made back drops for fashion shoots and done models make-up, dressed back stage for MBFF, organised numerous VIP events, travel Australia selling dogstar’s coming ranges to our wonderful and loyal wholesale customers, I have seen the company expand our retail by two stores in Brisbane and increased our number of staff.
What really makes my job exciting and rewarding is the people I deal with everyday, whether that’s our lovely, competent staff, our ever supportive VIP’s and the people that are just finding out about what we do at dogstar.
dogstar’s current Spring range, was recently featured in the fashion blog “style collective”

dogstar celebrated its Mercedes-Benz fashion parade on saturday night at our Southbank store in company of customers and staff. There we had the opportunity to relax and enjoy after weeks of hard work getting ready for the event. On the night gift packs were handed out and included in them were Perfect Potion aromatic mist Eros, gingerbread men and hand printed items based on our upcoming summer range inpired by fables and fairytales.
Here are some snap shots taken on the night…
