Masayo and the design team at dogstar have collaborated with visual artist Paola Milani to create the summer 09 Laika range.
Paola’s prints are inspired by the photographs of Dr. Masaru Emoto. Water crystals which have been exposed to the energies of love, hope and gratitude bear an uncanny resemblance to mandalas from various cultures throughout the world. She layers these into her photographs and paintings which are informed by the intriguing connection between the natural world, religions symbolism and the subconscious. They invite the viewer to gaze deeply within and can be a source of meditation and reflection.

To herald the arrival of dogstars summer 09 range, our city windows have had a make over. Strange but beautiful sculptural forms have taken over the windows in our Elizabeth St. store.
Behind the design and execution of the installation is Sachiyo Oizumi, who has collaborated with dogstar in the past.
The installation mirrors dogstars summer 09 aesthetic and highlights the raw egde of the range. The artwork’s direction emphasises the beauty in everyday life, and encourages us to look at mundane objects as art.
Our online shop is back after a refurbishment and is stocked full of our summer collections for dogstar, laika and essence. The dogstar online shop will continue to be updated throughout summer, as our new season styles hits the stores. The new site has been designed to allow you to shop easily and securely. Keep an eye out for the “tags” which have been added to each garment to help you find similar items quickly and hassle free.
Also updated on our website are the lastest collections for dogstar, laika and essence. This summer Laika’s collection features beautiful handprinted designs by Paola Milani entitled “Water Crystals.” The range is up on our online shop and includes tops, skirts, dresses and aprons, in beautiful linen, organic cotton and silk for the coming warm summer months.
We are a pretty switched on bunch here at dogstar and it hasn’t slipped by us that the average woman these days isn’t a size 8. In previous seasons we have included a variety of size 16 garments in our range, good thing too because they are literally running out the door. During our sale, our customers kept begging for more stock in our larger pieces. You spoke, and we listened. This summer dogstar has increased the number of size 16 garments we will be stocking. Yoyo pants, Circuit skirts ,and Mayhem and Menace tops (pictured) all available in size 16. Mayhem and Menace tops look great layered over tshirts for those not brave enough to bare those arms. We can’t change the weather, but we can certainly promise a summer collection that will warm up your wardrobe. Next season dogstar will be combining soft, natural fabrics with bold patterns and colours to welcome in the summer months.
