A Shift in the Wind

Over the last few weeks at the end of the year and the beginning of this year, we relocated our Indooroopilly boutique. We are now right next to David Jones on the second floor in the centre.

We are also planning to open a new boutique next month in Brisbane City on Adelaide St.

This year at dogstar, we are experiencing a few big changes.

This is our 26th year since we started dogstar in 1999, and we really feel that we are going to be reborn again to create something new and exciting this coming year.

Although I used to get scared of snakes when I see them in the mountains, snakes are seen as a god and a sacred animal here to protect us and the natural world.

We also say that it’s a lucky symbol when we dream of a snake coming into the house and it often indicates money is coming into the house.

How do you see the snake as a symbol in western culture? Something to be feared?
I can’t wait to hear and share more stories from your different cultures.

At home my daughter has a pet blue tongue lizard. Even with tiny legs she sometimes looks like a snake, scales all shiny.

But when she curls up and sleeps on my lap, using my body for warmth I wonder if I could love a snake too.
