Spirit of our Ancestors

Her voice is quite subtle and she speaks quietly. Her voice is rather like the feeling of the ocean. It’s a slow pace, yet steady and powerful.
I have known Delvene Cockatoo Collins @delvene_cockatoo_collins_art for quite a long time. She is deep like the ocean. Every time Delvene speaks, I can see that she is selecting her words thoughtfully.
Today Delvene has left for USA as a representative of our great country Australia with @travel_avanti . I spent time with her yesterday and we talked about our upcoming collaboration for next year.
When we first met, we instantly clicked while talking about our ancestors. Even though our cultures are from completely different countries, we both found that there are so many similarities. I can’t wait to explore more with her about our cultures and our ancestors.
In September, we celebrate our ancestors in Japan. It is called “OHIGAN”. It has an equinoctial week (Ohigan is when we welcome our ancestors back to our world and celebrate together). We believe around 20th September, our world and their world are the closest in distance. We can reconnect.
We normally put lanterns in front of our house to making sure that the spirits come back to us safely.
I wonder how Australia’s Indigenous people celebrate with their ancestors. I will ask Delvene when she comes back from the USA.
